About Scott....
-
- Occupation/ Work: Small Business Owner
-
I am not a politician
and have no connections with any county officials, developers, or special
interest groups. I am a small business owner (a residential painting
contractor). I deal with sales, customer service/relations, supervisory
functions and HR functions.
I'm 45 years old,
married, a 1981 graduate of Halls High School, and I attended the
University of Tennessee and Pellissippi State Technical Community College.
I majored in Engineering.
Three
Reasons to Vote for Scott....
-
I
believe that maintaining the status quo is unacceptable. New ideas are
vital for the Register of Deeds office and one that I would initiate
as soon as possible is to make the property records of Knox County
Citizens available to them for viewing on the web free of charge. This
would allow county residents to access property records easily from
their home without the inconvenience of driving downtown and searching
for parking. I'd also like to open a satellite office, possibly in the
existing county space at Knoxville Center Mall, where parking is
convenient and abundant. This would provide easier access for
everyone, especially our Senior Citizens.
-
If elected, I also
plan, on day one, to begin an evaluation of the staff and their
duties. It has been documented that the Knox County Register of Deeds
office is over staffed as compared to other county RoD offices, and it
has been rumored that there may even be persons on the payroll that do
no work at all. I will take steps to reduce the size of the office
staff based on my evaluation, with the resulting savings being passed
on to the county general fund. As you know, this fund is used for
vital county services including Knox county Schools.
-
There will also be no
nepotism or cronyism tolerated under my administration. No Knox County
officials, term limited former office holders, their families or
friends will be hired. Any persons currently employed that fall into
these categories will be replaced. I also have no intention of being a
career politician. As a firm advocate of term limits at all levels of
government. My desire is to serve my county for a limited term and
then go back to working in the private sector.
