Carter High School and graduated from Tusculum College with a BS Degree in
Business Administration.

Steve brings a wealth of experience
to the table with a broad background in management. He has owned and
operated a radio network in Nashville and has been chief financial
officer of a large furniture manufacturing company in Morristown.
During the past 16 years, he has been employed by St. Mary's Health
System. While at St. Mary's he has worked as a physician recruiter,
director of marketing and public relations, and is currently director
of economic development and government relations.

Steve has always been an active and
involved part of the Knoxville community. He has served as a loan
executive for United Way for six years and is currently chairperson of
the P16 Education Council for Union County. He is past president of
the Union County Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Firefighters
of Tennessee Board of Directors. Steve has been past president of the
North Knoxville Heart Association.

Steve was elected to the Knoxville
Board of Education in 1982 and served for 12 years. During his tenure
as Board Vice-Chair he helped lead the school system in the court
ordered desegregation plan. This proved a challenging time in
Knoxville history that ended with a plan approved by the Office of
Civil Rights. Steve was also appointed by the Tennessee General
Assembly to the Black Health Care Commission where he served for five
years.
