EXPERIENCE: Ken has spent that last 28 years
working in the field of criminal justice. During this time
he has been a prosecutor, public defender and a private attorney. As
an attorney, Ken’s practice has focused on complex criminal cases in
various Criminal Courts throughout East Tennessee. Ken has
regularly taught legal education seminars to other attorneys across
the State of Tennessee and has also served as an Adjunct Professor at
the UT College of Law.

BACKGROUND: Ken worked his way through college
and law school. Ken completed about half of his
undergraduate degree while on active duty in the United States Army. He
served with several elite military units such as the 101st Airborne
Division and the 75th Ranger Regiment. Even though he
worked all the way through law school, Ken graduated 8th in his class. He
received numerous honors upon graduation from the UT College of Law. His
degree was with high honors, he was awarded the Order of the Coif, he
received the James L. Powers Award of Excellence in Criminal Advocacy
and also received a Dean’s Citation.

GETTING THE JOB DONE: Ken is currently serving
as Criminal Court Judge in Division II. He was appointed by
Governor Bredesen on August 20, 2007. When Ken assumed this
position there was a significant backlog of cases in Division II. With
the help of the entire Court staff, clerk’s office and others, Ken
has been working diligently to deal with these old cases. Ken
is committed to seeing that each person that comes into his Court is
treated fairly and that each case is handled in a timely manner.
