About Roger....

Occupation/ Work: Financial Services and Insurance Agent with Farmers Insurance Group (since 1999)

Prior to that, I worked for the same company since 1988 though in another managerial capacity.

Cash Flow and Investment Experience...

I handle peoples finances everyday from Mutual Funds, to IRA's to Investments. I make recommendations to people who entrust me with there investments and retirement to make sound unbiased decisions for them to reach their goals.

I am the only candidate that I am aware of with a Finance background including the current and past Trustee. This is the reason why two Financial services companies have endorsed this campaign. I understand the interplay between investments and returns so I feel I can bring a better rate of return than any of the other candidates. I have also done mundane things like make payroll, hired and fired staff, evaluated people and programs to see what is working and what/who is not. I have also taken over businesses when the prior owners have left to restore them or shut them down. The last scenario is what I see happening here. Everyone has pretty much left the Trustee's office on autopilot. Mike is campaigning for Assessor, Fred is no where to be found but he was demoted. I expect a huge mess when I arrive. I am OK with that, been there and done that.

Three Reasons to Vote for Roger....

1. My finance experience- I am 06 and 63 licensed which took about 90 hours of study. I handle people's money everyday and bring them a return they are usually happy with.

2. My ability to evaluate programs and people- As the Fair board president, I have had to look at a program that was broken and I have taken on the "we never done it that way" mentality and made substantive changes to keep a festival vibrant and viable while not driving away the people who make the Fair what it is.

I have explored new ways of offering Insurance and Financial services to people and developed programs to meet individual and group needs that may be unique to a section of the city or people group. I have two offices- one exclusively for the Hispanic market which is growing more every day and has unique problems that have to be addressed. I have had to coordinate with Underwriters, State Legislators and  Company programming personnel to make this project happen.

I have 4 employees now and every month I have to evaluate there performance and direct them in ways that make me money and ultimately them money. This principle currently does not apply to County government. We currently have 2-3 times the number of employees as similar size counties and these employees bring in less that one half the money other employees in Hamilton or Davidson counties bring in. There is no excuse other than "business as usual" for this.

3. My Totally Outside the Knox County Political Machine- Most of the other candidates have had elected office in the past or are currently working for the county. We need a clean break from business as usual. People are really mad but the politico's don't get that. Most of the folks running, bring baggage with them that will follow them into this office. Old alliances or pay backs are now due. I am not a Sheriff's man or a Ragsdale man so I can offer no alliance to either group in this current fight but only offer the people of Knox County a competent, capable Trustee who will guard their investments and bring more funds back to the county for school, roads and other improvements.
