Mike Lowe was born July 10, 1957 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He graduated from Doyle High School in 1975 and attended the University of Tennessee before graduation from Tusculum College with a degree in Business Administration.

He has served two terms as legislative chairman of the Tennessee Trustee's Association and was instrumental in advancing the Tax Relief program for the elderly and disabled citizens in Knox County.

His wife Susan Rudd Lowe is a former U.S. Airways flight attendant. They have one daughter, Alison, who is recently married and resides in the Powell community. Mike and Susan are residents of South Knoxville.
